Four Westchester Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops

Nearly two dozen allegedly impaired drivers were removed from Hudson Valley roadways over the weekend and charged with DWI or DWAI by New York State Police.

Local residents charged include: 

Westchester County

  • On Friday, June 7, State Police from New Lebanon arrested Brian S. Hennessey, 43, of Larchmont, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 22 in Stephentown, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Cortlandt arrested Phillip S. Christie, 24, of Peekskill, for DWI. He was traveling on North Division Street inPeekskill, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Somers arrested Osmar R. Turcios Fuentes, 24, of Peekskill, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on State Route 202 in Somers, when he was involved in a property damage motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Monday, June 10, State Police from Hawthorne arrested Kevin J. Walker, 36, of New Rochelle, for DWI. He was traveling on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

Dutchess Man

  • On Friday, June 7, State Police from Rhinebeck arrested Jason M. McGrinder, 35, of Red Hook, for DWI with two prior convictions, felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, a felony, Use of a Vehicle without an Interlock Device, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana,  both misdemeanors. He was traveling on State Route 308 in Rhinebeck, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Friday, June 7, State Police from Hawthorne arrested Michael W. DeCosta Jr., 29, of East Fishkill, for DWAI Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, both class A misdemeanors. He was traveling on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers, when he was found asleep on the shoulder of the road. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of drugs, and in possession of heroin.
  • On Saturday, June 8, State Police from Wappinger arrested Christian S. Vesperman, 26, of East Fishkill, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 52 in Beacon, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Saturday, June 8, State Police from Somers arrested Lilly A. Gallaher, 22, of Pleasant Valley, for DWI. She was traveling on Interstate 684 in Bedford, when she was involved in a motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed she was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Saturday, June 8, State Police from Poughkeepsie arrested Brian S. Niznik, 40, of Pleasant Valley, for DWI. He was traveling on Vail Road in Lagrange, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Saturday, June 8, State Police from Dover Plains arrested James Norum, 53, of Pawling, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 22 in Patterson, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Saturday, June 8, State Police from Poughkeepsie arrested Sherina Defreitas, 44, of Pleasant Valley, for Aggravated DWI. She was traveling on State Route 44 in Pleasant Valley, when she was the subject of a welfare check. Investigation revealed she was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Cortlandt arrested William A. James, 58, of Fishkill, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 9 in Peekskill, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Stormville arrested Christopher Desilva, 34, of Lagrange, for DWI. He was traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in East Fishkill, when he was involved in a one car motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Hawthorne arrested John J. Peterson, 20, of Wappinger, for DWI. He was traveling on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Wappinger arrested Derek A. Allen, 36, of Wappinger, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 9D in Wappinger, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Lagrange arrested Guillermo E. Carpio, 29, of Poughkeepsie, for Aggravated DWI with a prior conviction, a class E felony, and Circumventing an Interlock Device, a class A misdemeanor. He was traveling on State Route 55 in Poughkeepsie, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Wappinger arrested Douglas Mayorga-Hansack, 25, of Hyde Park, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on Major MacDonald Way in Wappinger, when he was involved in a one-car motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.

Putnam County

  • On Saturday, June 8, State Police from Stormville arrested Anthony Valerio, 61, of Mahopac, for DWI. He was traveling on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
  • On Sunday, June 9, State Police from Dover Plains arrested Jordan J. Peragine, 30, of Brewster, for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 22 in Pawling, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol, and was subsequently arrested.
